Foraging

Living in any kind of city/town can have perks. For instance, in my little town there is an incredible organic market. I've had chickens for a few years and found that I can get organic greens/fruities that have been thrown out in plastic garbage bins behind the store. Usually I only collect for the chickens, sometimes, the food is good enough for me to eat. And, I must say that only vegetable/fruit content touches these buckets, there is no meat or garbage in them. If someone was way into trying to compost a lot, there is a goldmine here! So, you can look at your local market, organic or not, for food for any farm style animal. I am thinking about getting a goat, fresh goat's milk, yogurt, cheese, hm, yum and yum!

Learning from kids

Wow, I just finished babysitting my niece and nephew for five days and realize how important parents are. I have my own child, but I never realized how much kids need their parents. Not to get into too much dirty laundry, but these kids don't spend a lot of time with their parents. They are not neglected, but their personalities reflect the chaos in their life. It hurts my heart to see such lovely kids not knowing how to act in this world. I am even more determined to do my best as a parent. You know, I race home to spend time with my kid, he is the best part of my life and I realize that all the time and love I give him is an investment in his future. I think the reason I am posting is because I don't see family and children valued as much as they should be here in America. These things are number one, fascinating, fulfilling and all most of us truly desire in our lives, love from one another. Speaking of which I feel that having a job, going to the beach, loving my family and eating yummy food are my goals each day! I'll leave a pic...

Wild greens for dinner, found=free

I have found an abundance of wild mustard to eat. Sounds crazy, my mom showed me that it grows as weed in California near the coast. It probably grows many other places too. I live near the ocean so I see this everywhere this time of year, and yes, it has graced our dinner plates a few times already. I've been craving dark, green, leafy veggies for months, and it is amazing to find them for free. I'm a forager at heart and this is the ultimate. Steam it drizzled in soy sauce, or sauted with garlic and olive oil, whatever you like. The leaves are a little spiky when you pick them but that goes away when they are cooked!

Laundry Laundry, so good to me!

I love hanging my laundry out in the warmer weather, I even do it in cold weather, but then end up needing to give the clothes a last blast with the heater. What I mean by this is that I have a regular laundry rack that folds up, which I put over the heater vent, and I have a wood cd case holder and I use that to put laundry on as well. I didn't know it was a cd case holder, my husband pointed it out to me, but it works quite well. So, in preparation of the good weather to come, I found some beautiful birdie clothes pins in Pacific Grove yesterday, picture below. But, for $1 a piece, I knew that I would be able to find them cheaper somewhere else. So, here I am early on a Sunday morning searching all over the world, mostly U.S. and U.K. Also, I am in the market for a new ironing board cover. I am going to set up a rad laundry area on my smallish back deck, well, it will have to be split between outdoor kitchen, shower area, and laundry area. Wow, pics to come for sure. For now, here are the bird clips and I hope to find a pic of the cute store in Pacific Grove that got me onto this trail!

Introduction and how to bill two insurances

I am a high school teacher, I live in California, I am a mother and decided that there are some lovely blogs out there and I want to join. Today I want to talk about how to bill two insurances. It seems like you shouldn't have to do any work if you are fortunate enough to have two. But, I've found out that the steps are as follows:

1. Make a copy of the bill from the provider.
2. Make a copy of the "explanation of benefits" from your insurance company.
3. Write a short "To Whom it May Concern" letter explaining what you are submitting to them, include ID and group numbers. P.S. Also write down the date it is sent, and make a copy of this letter as well.
4. All of these items should be sent together to the secondary insurance carrier, make sure you have the address right.
5. I have found it is a little difficult to check on the "claim," but I've made online accounts with all insurances. I do know that it has worked, because I resubmitted claims and they said they had already been taken care of.

I posted this because I didn't find much information online about how to do this, and when I called insurance companies, they were not very helpful. I hope you find it helpful.

Keywords: billing insurance, insurances, two, secondary... SUCCESS!
